Saving gopher tortoises
The reporter for Tampa's ABC Action News wanted to know if it was a good thing for motorists to stop to remove gopher tortoises from the roadway. Lovers of olde Florida have been doing that for years. Of course, time was when they were sought after for dinner. There were a lot more of them then though.

Audubon Magazine reports on a program to alert motorists to cats on the move with warning signs that light up when large mammal movement is detected.

Rescue at the Skyway


James Wisner tells a cautionary tale of some mariners who were near the Sunshine Skyway over Tampa Bay recently when their boat began to sink. Wisner rescued them then went back out to fish. Why did the boat sink? Wisner explains on Capt. Mel Berman's Fishing Florida OnLine Magazine.
